impartial and independent advice
We are independent, whole of market financial advisors.
We advise on products and services from the whole of the market unlike tied (or multi-tied) advisors who only offer products from a single or small panel of providers.
how we charge for our advice
The initial meeting is without charge.
Unlike the majority of UK advisors we agree a fee for our work. It is now generally recognised that commission distorts the advice process and has been the primary driver in a number of high profile mis-selling scandals.
Despite the benefits of fee based advice we recognise that many people are wary of committing to paying for advice that may not add value to their financial position. With this in mind we provide the Totus Promise which applies to the majority of our services.
A full discussion of the pros and cons of fee based approach will take place at the outset of our relationship and no chargeable work will ever be carried out without your written authority.
what is the Totus Promise?
In plain English, we will complete all the work necessary to enable us to present our recommendations. If no value can be added or you are not entirely happy with our recommendations fees you will owe us nothing.
what are the benefits of fee based advice?
Transparency: we are not under any pressure to sell you a particular product as our fee is agreed with you and does not depend on the product sold.
Unlike the majority of UK advisors we are not limited to recommending commission based contracts. This means that we are able to use the most appropriate product to help you achieve your financial goals, not just the most appropriate commission paying product.
Charges on contracts that have no commission loading are simply much lower.

how do we achieve high service levels?
Unlike the majority of UK advisors we do not normally visit clients at their home or place of work as we primarily deal with clients in our offices or by telephone.
The time that would be spent travelling to clients is instead spent ensuring that you are better informed both when advice is initially implemented and on an on-going basis.
Time pressures on the typical UK advisor can often lead to a rushed explanation of the products and services that are being recommended to achieve your objectives. A common thread in complaints levelled by clients is that they didn’t fully understand the pros and cons of the recommendation.
At Totus your own dedicated relationship manager will have the time to ensure you’ll always fully understand our recommendations.
*provided we have not moved to implementation stage (i.e. application and submission) any fee agreement will become null and void.
